Star Wars VII is set to film a woodland battle in Wales. A Welsh website has some spoiler-less updates.
William Shatner now admits that the cameo role has actually been offered to him. And that his previous denial-by twitter a few days ago is just the usual every actor’s way of hiding spoilers from the public.
“Capt. James Tiberius Kirk” was at Wizard World Nashville Comic Con earlier today. What lead him to telling the truth is that the Star Trek 3’s director,Robert Orci, spilled the info in an interview even though there has been a deal of keeping the cameo offer in tight lips. Shatner was still in Australia and arrived back to find out the secret was let out to the media.
Shatner’s last portrayal of the famous Captain was back in 1994’s Star Trek Generation. His role died while helpingCaptain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) defeat Dr. Tolian Soran (Malcolm McDowell). Now, J.J. Abrams gave the franchise a hip reboot, gave Leonard Nimoy a cameo in the first Star Trek film in 2009 and even offered Shatner too, but his role was cut off even before shooting starts.
“When Leonard was Spock in that first movie, I said to Leonard “you know when you go back in time you are still old,” Shatner added. “So it depends on what you do with the character. I said “I would be delighted.” And he said “you can’t say anything.” And I said “I wont even tell my wife. I wont tell anyone. I wouldn’t do that, JJ. So I get back from Australia and it is all over the Internet, that the director held an interview and said they wanted Shatner and Nimoy to be in the next movie. I bet JJ is frothing at the mouth. So the news is out that they have an idea that they want Leonard and myself. They might want Leonard and myself. I don’t know what to do with it. How do you get me fifty years later into the movie…I know it’s science fiction, but even I couldn’t come up with an idea.
