It might not be an image or a clip of the film, but the information has caused a stir in the hearts of avid Star Wars fans and the last two Jedi themselves. Hours since the reveal, Mark Hamill a.k.a. Luke Skywalker was asked about his reaction to the title.
Jedi in training Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, also expressed her feelings towards the new Star Wars subtitle. And what better way to convey one’s emotion on the internet than to post a meme on social media?
With the release of the official title, speculations are brewing as to whom it is referring to. Star Wars: The Force Awakens already referred to Luke Skywalker as the last Jedi. Apart from the Star Wars VII opening crawl, a scene from the movie shows Supreme Leader Snoke mentioning said Jedi in the following line: “The droid will soon be delivered to the Resistance… leading them to the last Jedi (Skywalker)”.
Amidst these substantial evidence, others are vehement that the title pertains more to Rey. Along with this speculation is the assumption of having Skywalker’s fate cut short in the movie. But then again, Jedi can also be plural and we get to live our dreams of seeing the duo fighting side by side until Star Wars IX.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is slated to hit theaters on December 2017.
