Everything has been under wraps ever since Spider-Man: Homecoming has started principal photography last June. However, The Wrap has reported a major spoiler about Peter Parker’s love interest, Mary Jane Watson.
Mary Jane has only been portrayed by Kirsten Dunst in the Spider-Man movies with Toby Mcguire. Shailene Woodley almost had her chance to play the pretty redhead on the big screen in Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man before her scenes were cut out of the movie, to which Webb explained that he wanted to focus on the web-slinger’s first love, Gwen Stacey.
Now, one lucky actress has been handed down the scepter to play M.J. The Wrap reported that Zendaya will be playing opposite Tom Holland’s Peter Parker as his soon to be ladylove Mary Jane Watson. This would seem shocking to fans, especially to die hard Spiderman comic book fans who’ve been used to seeing Spider-Man with her Caucasian, red head girlfriend.
Although the news is yet to be formally announced, it shows that Marvel is in race-bending mode. Another example is found in upcoming Thor installment with Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie.
