Let’s take a break from the superhero, comic book madness for a while and gush over Pixar‘s new cinematic, underwater experience- Finding Dory.
The sequel to 2013’s Finding Nemo, Finding Dory, revolves around the forgetful titular character. Dory is now assisted by the adorable father and son clown fish tandem of Marlin and Nemo in searching for her long lost family. Finding Dory is a spectacle of the eye as these characters take the viewers to the big blue sea and beyond.
Even though Finding Dory is an animated movie for children, the good people at Pixar throw in a couple of adult jokes for the older audience to relate and snicker to. One gag celebrates the awesomeness of Sigourney Weaver and her role as a conservationist and nature documentary narrator.
The encounter with the Alien and The Avatar actress happens when Dory hears her voice booming from speakers at a marine-life institute. No animated Weaver is in sight but her distinctive voice is what you’ll hear echoing through the scene. The joke then turns into a running gag every time Dory brings up her name and refers her as “my friend Sigourney” throughout the movie.
Weaver is no newbie when it comes to cameos and lending her voice to movies. She has also imparted her vocals in Pixar’s Wall–E as a futuristic ship’s computer.
Catch Finding Dory now as it plays in cinemas near you.
