A glammed up Shailene Woodley in a sparkling, little red dress graces the cover of Vanity Fair’s July issue. Shai, as her friends like to call her, shares about her role as Mary Jane being cut-off from the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man.
Woodley who first came in the public eye in The Secret Life of the American Teenager, starred in The Descendants with George Clooney, Divergent with Theo James and the very recent tear-jerker The Fault in Our Stars with Ansel Elgort. Based on her performances, Shai has the capacity to be a movie star, but her acting chops as Mary Jane Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 did not see the light of day.
Here’s what Woodley’s initial reaction was upon knowing that her portrayal of the red-head hottie did not survive the chopping board.
“For a few hours it was literally like, ‘Oh, my God, was I awful? Why did they cut me? What are people going to think?’ I woke up the next morning and I was like, ‘O.K., it makes total sense.’ I’m a pretty spiritual person, so I can just sit back and trust that everything happens for a reason, even if my ego doesn’t like it.”
Shai’s such a good sport and she’s right. She shouldn’t worry her pretty, little head about her MJ being cut-off because she has other projects to focus on and be thankful for, such as Insurgent, the sequel to Divergent, and Allegiant Parts 1 & 2.
