Mortal Engines gets a teaser and it’s basking in its steam-punk glory.
Based on the novel of the same name by Philip Reeve, Mortal Engines is set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged after the Sixty Minute War where cities are constantly moving on engines with wheels escaping from geological upheavals and scouring the earth in search of resources by dismantling smaller cities.
The teaser below shows our heroine Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar) keeping calm as she along with other townspeople witness the City of London mechanically engulfing their small mining town of Salthook.
Mortal Engines is part of a tetralogy from English novelist Philip Reeve. This first installment is produced and written by Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit) with fellow writers Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh. At the helm is Christian Rivers which marks his first directorial credit amidst his works in the art department as storyboard artist under Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and King Kong.
Mortal Engines is slated to hit theaters on December 2018.
