Every movie trailer needs to effectively introduce the storyline and attract potential audiences. The Deadpool Trailer 2, which premiered on Christmas Day, did exactly that.
Editing and putting together all the scenes for the trailer was no easy task. For example, a trailer needs to just show a few enough scenes and no major spoilers. A long and insightful article from Empire, titled “Deadpool Trailer Breakdown”, features director Tim Miller and producer Simon Kinberg analysing the scenes shown in the trailer.
The main things they pointed out include:
- A Different Kind of a Superhero Story : “Deadpool’s kind of shockingly different from most Marvel characters…and the really different sort of space he inhabits from usual comic book films.”
2. Christmas for Deadpool : “…we did plan the film to be a heartwarming holiday classic – we had to work Christmas in there!” Plus, Deadpool’s naughty list.
3. X-Teen hates Deadpool : “..her whole attitude is this disaffected teen who thinks Deadpool’s just a douchebag.”
4. No Damsel in Distress : Sure, Vanessa has tape on her mouth in one scene but Miller mentions how she’s a lot stronger than Wade and that “has always been the goal.”
