The Men in Black reboot which stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, originally had a script that would have dealt with immigration.
THR reported that the original plot of Men in Black: International would be timely and edgier than the route that Sony went with now. THR states:
Early drafts of the script were described as being edgier and more timely, tying the story to the current debate surrounding immigration.
It was also revealed that the script would have had a four-person boy band like The Beatles as the movie’s villains. The said villains were told to have the ability to merge into one powerful alien entity.
Due to Exec VP of production David Beaubaire’s, who oversaw the project, exit with no replacement taking over, rewrites were made during the preproduction and production process, leaving most of the original script on the cutting room floor.
