Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn is undeniably the breakout star of the 2016 Suicide Squad. So it’s not surprising that Warner Bros are developing some projects centered around the character.
There are three movies in development that has primarily something to do with Robbie’s, Harley Quinn. There’s Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens and an untitled Harley Quinn/The Joker spin-off. Now in a recent MTV interview, Robbie mentions that she has been working on a Harley Quinn solo movie, which is not canon with the rest of the Harley movies.
“There’s a lot going on right now,” Robbie continued. “Honestly, I don’t think anyone knows what’s going to be the next thing to happen, but I think everyone is keen to get Harley back onscreen so everyone is working on lots of different versions of what that could be.”
Robbie points out what she wants in the projects:
“I want to see her with other women. I kept saying when we were shooting Suicide Squad, ‘She needs her girlfriends,’ she needs other girls around her because she loves that. You see it in the comics. She loves meeting people, any people, but she needs her girl gang.”
And she is very keen in keeping faithful with the comic book sources and making fans happy – to an extent.
“I think when it comes to something that has such a huge fan base already, you obviously want to do the fans justice,” she explained. “You want to show them the characters they fell in love with, but you also can’t be paralyzed by the idea of, ‘How do we please everyone?’ because it’s just not going to happen with any film.”
