So, the most beloved Batman comic writers walked into a hall and they were asked which film has captured the heart and soul of the caped crusader. Will it be an easy task for them or will they be given time to think it over?
According to Screenrant.com, this actually happened during the Dark Knight’s 75th Anniversary at the recently concluded San Diego Comic Con 2014. A fan piped up the question that could have been in every person’s mind in the hall.
O’Neil was one of those who were straightforward to say that the director-actor team really get Bruce Wayne and was jealous of not writing him the way they did.
It’s easy to agree with these guys and if you have seen at least one comic issue that they helped to make, you really don’t need to be a psychic to guess their answer. The Batman comic version has always been dark, visibly tortured, sometimes an antihero and callous, so when Nolan went to that shift, they were delighted.
However, Neal Adams (frequent collaborator of O’Neil’s) thinks that a film has yet to capture the mythic elements of Batman and he hopes that Snyder’s Batman v. Superman will finally do it. Snyder did mention that his version will stick closely to Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns. But don’t get him wrong, he totally loves Nolan’s films.
How about you? Do you agree with the experts or do you have another version in mind?
