SMOOTH RIDE AT THE HAN SOLO SET.
Director Ron Howard assures fans that it has been going smoothly at the Han Solo set. In an interview with THR’s Hot Vision on Tuesday that the space opera “is coming along great”. During his directing duties, he has been having fun posting mini updates from the Han Solo set but is careful to not give away any spoilers.
“It’s a fantastic script, a great cast and I am having a fantastic creative experience with it came with great characters, a great script and actors who inhabit those characters…It’s a great young cast, incredibly strong — smart, funny people who love their characters and love being part of this. I think we’ll be able to do something that is a lot of fun.” he elaborated further
The award winning director, TV producer, and uncredited Arrested Development narrator replaced the comedic directing duo, Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Lego Movie, Jump Street film franchise) were let go for artistic differences by executive producer Kathleen Kennedy and writer Lawrence Kasdan.
In the duo’s defense, they commented that Lucasfilm and Disney didn’t give them creative freedom. Meanwhile, the producers and writers complained of the improvisational style of the directors and that they deviated from Kasdan’s script.
Alden Ehrenreich is playing the iconic smuggler, while Donald Glover steps into the role of Lando Calrissian. Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton and Phoebe Waller-Bridge also star, with Joonas Suotamo playing Chewbacca.
The as-yet untitled film is set to open May 25, 2018.
