Last Sept. 22, Monday, Baddass Digest delivered a news that William Shatner, the Captain Kirk in the original series, will finally make his first cameo in the Star Trek reboot series on the upcoming ‘Star Trek 3’ that will be directed by Robert Orci.
According to Baddass Digest, Shatner will share a scene with Leonard Nimoy (the original Spock). The website, that is famous for sharing movie rumors that sometimes come out to be true, has said that it’s just a rumor.
The rumor has reached the big guy himself and the director, each giving their reactions on it. And of course, they are neither confirming it.
From an interview by trekmovie.com, Orci comments on two separate days:
boborci – September 22, 2014
love no win scenarios. In theoy, damned either way.
Some fans thought that this was a “yes”, but Orci said otherwise on the next day:
boborci – September 23, 2014
Not in my interest to confirm or deny anything because it limits my options while maintaining my integrity as a truth teller.
The movie is not the movie till it is in the theater. Until then, everything is a rumor.
Then a few hours later,
Let's talk ST. I don't know anything about the current gossip. Nobody has contacted me. Right now it's just rhetoric to cause hype.

Some trivia , Orci and Laex Kurtzman have indeed written a scene for Shatner in the 2009 Star Trek film but it didn’t fell through. As for now, “everything is a rumor” until the movie comes out.
