Emma Watson gives her rendition of ” Belle “ in new Beauty and The Beast clip.
Before the live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast opens in theaters next month, Disney released a new clip entitled “Belle”. Below you’ll see the girl whose name means “Beauty” (played by Emma Watson) strolling through the village while the townspeople gossip about her peculiarity all in a song.
The plot-furthering song, as composer Alan Menken describes it, is a pivotal moment delivered through a musical narrative with conversation snippets. The song depicts how our heroine is slowly getting weary of her poor provincial town. It also portrays the villagers as extremely conventional people who has gotten very much comfortable with their provincial life and has regarded the book-loving and intelligent nonconformist Belle different from the rest of them. Although not shown in the clip below, like in the original animated movie, the song also introduces us to the film’s villain Gaston (played by Luke Evans).
Beauty and the Beast is slated to open in theaters on March 2017.
