The Tomb Raider reboot has started filming as evidenced by set stills. Star Alicia Vikander is not afraid to get her hands dirty as she does her own stunts.
The Danish Girl and Ex-Machina star Alicia Vikander is going to be one hell of a Lara Croft. Below are a few stills of the actress courtesy of Daily Mail UK to prove it.
After winning an Academy Award as a supportive wife to a transgender artist in The Danish Girl, Vikander nabbed the lead role as the archaeologist-adventurer born from a wealthy family who travels around the world in the quest for historical relics with supernatural powers.
Last year, Vikander expressed her enthusiasm towards the role. She also explained how the reboot would be a hit with the players of the 2013 version of the video game. In an interview with HitFix, Alicia said:
They told me they were doing the film based on the reboot of the game from 2013. That is more of an origin story. You get into an emotional aspect of getting to know Lara hopefully in an in-depth way. So I hope that doing a film of the rebooted game will bring something new and fresh that’ll stand on its own two legs.

Joining Vikander are Walton Goggins as villain Father Mathias Vogel, Daniel Wu as ship captain Lu Ren, and Dominic West as Croft’s father Lord Richard Croft. The Tomb Raider reboot is scheduled for release on March 16, 2018 with Roar Uthaug (The Wave) to helm.
