Joan Lee, Stan Lee’s wife, dies at 93. Sources say that she died due to a stroke. A representative of the Lee family is requesting the public to respect their privacy during their grieving time. Joan and Stan were married for 69 years. Joan was a hat model, actress, and author. She was previously married to a soldier but it was an unhappy marriage. She married the future legendary comic book creator right after she divorced her first husband.
As an actress, she provided character voices for her husband’s 90s animated reincarnations: Iron Man (1994), Fantastic Four (1994) and Spider-Man (1996). She was also featured in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse.
Marvel has released the following statement:
We are so saddened to hear about the loss of Joan Lee. We lost a member of the Marvel family today and our thoughts and prayers go out to Stan and his daughter Joan in this difficult time.
She is survived by her husband, Stan, and her daughter Joan Celia Lee. She had another child, Jan Lee, who died at birth.
