In a recent interview at the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Star Wars: Episode IX director, J.J. Abrams, revealed that the script for the film is done. He has also confirmed the date of production of the movie.
According to the director, it’s a rarity and a luxury to have a finished script before filming. He wrote the script along with Derek Connolly, Chris Terrio, and Colin Trevorrow.
“We have a script, which is a big deal for me. It starts shooting end of July … Sometimes having the script in advance is something I haven’t always been lucky enough to have … But I’m writing this with Chris Terrio, who’s a genius, and I’m having a great time.”
Star Wars: Episode IX aims to continue–and possibly tie up–the character arcs for Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, and other Tumblr-breaking heroes and villains.
The schedule of production starts in late July, 2018, working under the working tittle “Black Diamond”.
