Why Jon Watts‘ Spider-Man: Homecoming might be the best Spider-Man movie yet, as told by one-half of the Russo Brothers.
With the recent, major role revelation of Zendaya as Mary Jane Watson, a lot of pertinent people have blurted out their opinions and support to the topic. Another personality relevant to the comic book-movie world shares his insights of the upcoming film. Director Anthony Russo, one-half of the Captain America: Civil War helmers, raves about fellow director Jon Watts and their collaboration regarding Tom Holland‘s Peter Parker’s individual character development and its future within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“From a process standpoint, it’s like it is with all other Marvel directors, everybody runs into each other in the hallways, we’re passing off story information between each other. I don’t necessarily know how much it influenced me yet because we’re not involved in it on a day-to-day project, a process, and we’ve seen as much as everybody else has seen, meaning if you were at Comic-Con and you saw the Comic-Con trailer, that’s what we’ve seen of it.”
Russo also discloses that his favorite Spider-Man movie is the second installment directed by Sam Raimi.
“I think the tone and the direction that he’s [Jon Watts] heading in that movie are fantastic, I think it has the potential to be the best Spider-Man yet and I know that’s saying a lot because perhaps my favorite comic book movie of all time is Raimi’s Spider-Man 2. He’s [Jon Watts] crazy talented, the script is amazing, and we have really high expectations for the movie.”
Spider-Man: Homecoming swings to theaters in July of next year.
