Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie join the latest installment of the Star Wars franchise as posted on its website.
Nyong’o who won an Academy Award for her performance in 12 Years a Slave was rumoured to have been reading for a part before the initial casting was announced.
J.J. Abrams was able to keep her involvement under secrecy until officially stating it on a press release last Monday along with Christie’s.
Christie can be seen as Brienne, warrior of House Tarth, in Game of Thrones. She will also star in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.
The cast, which includes John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow plus the original stars of the Saga Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Bakerwhile, will be added with two ladies with roles that are yet to be revealed.
Star Wars: Episode VII is set to hit theaters on the 18th of December, 2015.
